Mackey Sasser was a long time back up catcher to Hall of Famer Gary Carter. Sasser was a terrific hitter who hit .291 in 1989 and .307 in 1990. However, Sasser had some defensive issues and unfortunately developed an issue with the ability to throw the ball back to the pitcher.
Sasser was also known as a funny guy who like Ralph Kiner was known for his malapropisms.
