Short stay Met, Wayne Kirby was born on this day in 1964. Kirby played for the Indians from 93-96, Dodgers from 96-97 and played with the Men from Flushing in 1998.He has a very solid coaching career with the Orioles for many years.
He put together a full solid years with the Indians including his rookie year where he hit .269, 17 stolen bases with 60 ribbies and he also led the American League with 19 assists in the outfield. He finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting.
Alas, his short stay with the Mets was not quite as successful. In 1998, he had 31 at bats with six hits for a batting average of .194 and no rbi's.
So very happy Mets birthday to Wayne Kirby.
