ROGERS HORNSBY METS BASEBALL INSULT QUOTE OF THE DAY
The great Rogers Hornsby served as a batting instructor with the original Amazing Mets of 1962.
To say he was disappointed by the 1962 Mets draft would be a major understatement.
Hornsby's quote of the Mets 1962 Expansion Draft is the Mets Baseball Quote of the Day,
"They say we're going to get players out of a grab bag. From what I see, it's going to be a garbage back."
--Rogers Hornsby, insulting the players in the 1962 expansion draft chosen by the Mets

CASEY STENGEL METS BASEBALL INSULT OF THE DAY
Not much news on the March 14th birthday front for the Mets, so instead I focused my attention on some of Casey's greatest Mets quotes.
We all know that he managed the expansion 1962 Amazing Mets, one of the worst teams in baseball history. Casey was a great manager for them, providing advice, strategy and quick wit.
When the 'Amazin's were having trouble with catching fly ball in 1962,
Casey said of his young not so talented team's outfield defense, "We're still working on grounders."

Casey Stengel Mets Quote of the Day
Surprisingly, www.baseballquotations.com does not have any quotes dedicated to Fernando Tatis whose birthday is today. I will have to work on that.
So as a substitute, we will provide you all with a New Year's Day treat of a Mets quote featuring the Old Professor, Casey Stengel
"It was a team effort."
--Casey Stengel, on '62 Mets losing 120 games
